Music Therapy is defined by the American Music Therapy Association as "the clinical and evidence-based use of music interventions to accomplish individualized goals within a therapeutic relationship by a credentialed professional who has completed an approved music therapy program."Basically, Music Therapy uses music to help children reach non-musical, functional goals. We do not work on musical goals (it is not a music lesson), but rather use music as a therapeutic tool to focus on non-musical goals that will help the child function in life outside of the music therapy setting.
